Pregnancy physical Therapy

Why Get Physical Therapy During Pregnancy

It may be normal to have some aches and pains during pregnancy; after all, our bodies are changing, stretching, re-organizing, and vigorously growing a human being each day. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to live with consistent, daily pain preventing you from sleeping, moving, working, or mothering.

Common complaints we often treat during pregnancy include:

  • Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction (PSD) or “lightening crotch”

  • Round Ligament pain

  • Low back, hip or tailbone pain

  • Sciatica and Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) dysfunction

  • Mid-back pain and rib pain

  • Carpal tunnel

  • Incontinence

  • Urinary urgency and frequency

  • Pain with intimacy

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse, or generalized heaviness in the pelvis region

  • Constipation and other GI changes

Birth Preparation Program

Our birth prep services are designed for the mom that may not be experiencing any aches or pains but interested in learning about their body and pelvic floor, optimal pushing strategies to avoid tearing and birth injuries, labor and delivery positions based on your body’s individualized needs, education on in and out of hospital interventions and how to advocate for yourself in any birth setting, as well as all the information and tools you need to prepare for the postpartum period.

Participating in birth education can reduce birth injury, improves birth outcomes and decreases maternal stress/fear while improving maternal self reported birth experience. By being informed and educated about birth, interventions and appropriate care moms feel supported and heard.
